Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) left jaws on the floor at a congressional hearing Wednesday when he asked Democrat witness Diane Yentel point-blank if she was a covert white supremacist—and she couldn’t bring herself to say no.

Yentel, the president of the National Council of Nonprofits, was testifying during a hearing titled “Public Funds, Private Agendas: NGOs Gone Wild.” Gill started by confronting her over past social media posts accusing President Trump of racism. She refused to repeat her own words under oath, sidestepping the question.

Then things got wild.

Gill cited one of her organization’s affiliates, which claimed that “denial of racism constitutes covert white supremacy.” Given that Yentel had just denied racism several times, Gill asked: “Are you a covert white supremacist?”

She didn’t deny it.

Instead, Yentel tried to pivot, asking to talk about the work nonprofits do. Gill wasn’t having it. “No,” he said. “I’m asking if you’re a covert white supremacist. Would you like to answer the question?”

Again, silence.

Gill pressed harder. “I am utterly dumbfounded,” he said. “You are on record right now, and you will not say that you are not a covert white supremacist?”

Yentel’s final defense? She claimed she didn’t know the definition of the term, despite her organization promoting the idea.

Gill called her dodge “astounding,” and it’s hard to disagree. Her refusal to disavow something as inflammatory as white supremacy—even under the cover of her own talking points—blew a massive hole in the credibility of the Democrats’ so-called expert.

Gill, a freshman congressman, has quickly earned a reputation for delivering bruising takedowns of left-wing witnesses. Just last month, he confronted USA Fencing Chair Damien Lehfeldt over his smears against parents opposing trans athletes in girls’ sports. That exchange also went viral.

Wednesday’s hearing was supposed to spotlight the Democrats’ defense of nonprofit groups that push political agendas with taxpayer dollars. But instead, it turned into a showcase of leftist hypocrisy and mental gymnastics.

It also revealed just how fragile the left’s rhetorical games become when their own words are turned against them.

Gill didn’t just embarrass a witness—he exposed a core problem with woke activism: it’s built on definitions no one can explain, accusations no one can justify, and standards no one is willing to apply to themselves.

And in this case, the silence said more than any answer could.
