Man Jumps Mar-a-Lago Wall to Get To Trump’s Granddaughter

A disturbing security breach at Mar-a-Lago has raised fresh concerns for the Trump family after a 23-year-old Texas man was arrested for jumping the estate’s wall with an unusual and unsettling mission: to deliver a religious message to President Trump and marry his teenage granddaughter, Kai Madison Trump.
According to an arrest report and a statement from the U.S. Secret Service, the man, Anthony Thomas Reyes, scaled the perimeter fence just after midnight on Tuesday. The incident triggered alarms and led to his immediate detention by law enforcement. Reyes told officers he intended to “spread the gospel” to the former president and that he believed he was meant to marry Kai Trump, who had only just turned 18 in May.
Though former President Trump was not on the property at the time—he was in Washington, D.C.—this wasn’t the first time Reyes had attempted to gain entry to Mar-a-Lago. Police records show he had previously trespassed on the estate during a New Year’s Eve incident, when Trump was present. At that time, Reyes was merely issued a warning, a decision that now seems dangerously lenient given his return.
It remains unclear whether Kai Trump was at Mar-a-Lago during either encounter, but the repeated breaches have intensified scrutiny on Secret Service protocols, especially following the assassination attempt on Trump that occurred on July 13 of last year. That near-miss led to the creation of a dedicated security zone around Mar-a-Lago—yet breaches have continued, with nine separate arrests since then.
Among those was a 39-year-old Chinese national who was apprehended trying to enter the property in the weeks after the attempt on Trump’s life. These incidents have fueled criticism of the Biden-era Secret Service for failing to adequately secure one of the most high-profile residences in the country.
Reyes now faces a misdemeanor trespassing charge and is being held in Palm Beach County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty and could potentially face federal charges pending further investigation. What stands out most is not just the repeat offense, but the motive: a delusional belief that he had a spiritual mandate to marry a member of the Trump family.
Kai Trump has become a rising political personality in her own right. She made her public debut last summer during the Republican National Convention, where she delivered a charismatic speech that charmed the GOP faithful. She spoke warmly of her grandfather’s encouragement and even teased him over their competitive golf games. “When we play golf together, if I’m not on his team, he’ll try to get inside of my head,” she joked. “But I have to remind him I’m a Trump, too.”
In a video posted around Trump’s Inauguration in January, Kai said she had “butterflies” ahead of the ceremony and predicted that “these next four years [are] going to be the best four years America has ever had in a very long time.”
That optimism stands in stark contrast to the escalating threats surrounding the Trump family. The Reyes incident is only the latest in a string of concerning episodes that reflect just how intense and unpredictable the political environment has become.
With the 2026 midterms looming and Trump’s public profile as high as ever, it’s likely the security stakes will only rise. But for now, Mar-a-Lago’s vulnerability has once again been exposed—along with the risks faced by the next generation of Trumps.
