Adam Schiff Supports Violence And Chaos as L.A. Burns

California Senator Adam Schiff—once the face of the Democrats’ “insurrection” narrative after January 6—has now found himself defending anti-ICE rioters in Los Angeles as “protesters” and blasting President Trump for deploying the National Guard to restore order.
Over the weekend, Schiff denounced Trump’s decision to federalize 2,000 California National Guard troops as “unprecedented,” ignoring the historical reality that presidents have used such authority before—including Eisenhower’s move to enforce civil rights protections in the 1950s.
Rioters in L.A. have clashed with federal agents over immigration enforcement operations, torching property, blocking roads, and attacking law enforcement officials. The scenes bear a striking resemblance to the lawlessness Schiff once decried—yet this time, he’s singing a different tune.
In a post on X, Schiff criticized Trump for using force to stop what he called “peaceful protests.” He also warned against the potential invocation of the Insurrection Act, framing the unrest as legitimate resistance against a crackdown on immigrants.
What Schiff didn’t mention? Federal buildings were vandalized, ICE agents were assaulted, and operations to deport illegal aliens were being violently obstructed. Despite the chaos, California Governor Gavin Newsom refused federal help, forcing Trump to act unilaterally.
The hypocrisy hasn’t gone unnoticed. Critics are pointing to Schiff’s central role on the January 6 Committee, where he pushed for criminal prosecutions against Capitol protesters and excoriated Trump for not deploying the National Guard faster.
Now that the violence is coming from the Left, Schiff’s stance has flipped. According to Breitbart’s Joel Pollak, Schiff “sat on the one-sided January 6 Committee, accusing others of ‘insurrection’ over the Capitol riot… There, too, Democrats rejected Trump’s efforts to deploy the National Guard to protect federal buildings—a fact Schiff’s committee decided to ignore.”
Trump’s use of federalized troops is designed to back up ICE agents carrying out lawful deportations in a city that has increasingly refused to cooperate. Federal authorities confirmed that the surge in violence was impeding their ability to execute operations and enforce immigration law.
While Schiff and Newsom cry foul, others note that Trump’s action is both legal and necessary. “A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals,” Trump said on Truth Social. “These lawless riots only strengthen our resolve… the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free.”
With federal officials under siege and top Democrats defending the rioters, the crisis in Los Angeles is becoming a national referendum on border enforcement, public safety, and the rule of law. For Schiff, it’s also exposing just how situational his outrage over “insurrection” really is.
