Officers Get Attacked, Democrats Respond By Restricting Freedom

Democrats in the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee used the heinous attack on police officers in York County to push through more gun control.

Breitbart News reported that three officers were killed and two others injured Wednesday afternoon when ambushed while attempting to serve a warrant.

PBS noted the three officers — Detective Sgt. Cody Becker, Detective Mark Baker and Detective Isaiah Emenheiser — were all the Northern York County Regional Police Department.

Just days after the attack, Democrats on the Judiciary Committee advanced four gun control bills, according to City and State PA.

One of the bills bans so-called “Glock switches,” which were not used in the attack and which are already virtually banned on the federal level via NFA/Class 3 regulations.

Another one of the gun controls would establish universal background checks–something Democrats around the country have pursued for decades–and yet another would ban “ghost guns.”

The final bill would enact a red flag law.

Democrats pushed the red flag law as a deterrent to suicides.

The Democrats’ exploitation of this tragedy to advance their preexisting gun control agenda dishonors the memory of the fallen officers.

None of these proposed restrictions would have prevented the ambush attack that killed these brave law enforcement officers.

The timing of advancing these bills just days after the officers’ deaths reveals the political opportunism driving this legislation.

Banning “Glock switches” that weren’t even used in the attack demonstrates how disconnected these proposals are from the actual incident.

Universal background checks have repeatedly failed to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms in other states where implemented.

The red flag law provision shows Democrats using officer deaths to justify broader restrictions on constitutional rights.

These officers died serving their community, not because of inadequate gun laws but because they faced armed criminals.

The Democrats’ rush to restrict law-abiding citizens’ rights while the officers’ families grieve shows callous political calculation.

These proposals would burden legal gun owners while doing nothing to address the criminal behavior that killed these officers.

The focus should be on supporting law enforcement and prosecuting criminals, not restricting constitutional rights.

This legislative response demonstrates how Democrats reflexively turn every tragedy into an opportunity for gun control regardless of relevance.

The fallen officers deserve better than having their sacrifice used as a pretext for advancing unrelated political agendas.

These bills represent the same failed policies Democrats have promoted for decades without reducing criminal violence.

Law enforcement officers need better support and resources, not more restrictions on citizens’ constitutional rights.
